Hokuo Studio

北欧スタジオ

Hokuo Studio is built around the meeting point between Nordic design and Japanese simplicity.

The name comes from the Japanese word Hokuō (北欧), meaning the Nordic region / Scandinavia — reflecting the foundation of the studio: Scandinavian atmosphere shaped through a Japanese lens.

Created by Mathias Bro Lindhardt, the studio began with a personal connection to Hans Christian Andersen’s stories. I grew up in Odense, the same city as Andersen, and his stories have been part of my world from an early age.

The first collection reinterprets those stories through a quieter visual language — not as literal illustrations, but as moods, moments, and underlying feelings.

Hokuo Studio begins with art prints, but is meant to grow into a broader collection of pieces for the home, all grounded in the same approach:

simple, calm, and made to last.
